Arizona Health Sciences Library's New Director Begins Duties

Gary Freiburger has begun duties as the new director of the Arizona Health Sciences Library. He succeeds Rachael Anderson, who retired in January after serving as director since January 1991; Jeannette McCray served as acting director following Anderson's retirement.
Freiburger previously was director of Kornhauser Health Sciences Library at the University of Louisville, Louisville, Ky. In that position, he was responsible for all library operations and personnel and worked on health information technology issues and information-related strategic planning. From 1992-97 he was deputy library director of the Health Sciences Library at the University of Maryland.

He earned his bachelor's degree from Northwestern University in Evanston, Ill., and received his master's degree in library and information science from the University of Texas at Austin.

Arizona's most extensive source of health sciences information, the AHS Library provides support to Arizona's health care professionals and the public through information services, collections, electronic networks, computing and outreach services.
